Joan Gordon earned her B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from The University of Iowa. She is Co-Editor of several collections of scholarly essays in science ficition, including Bloodread: The Vampire as Metaphor in Contemporary Culture and Edging into the Future: Science Fiction and Contemporary Cultural Transformations. She is an editor of Science Fiction Studies and has been a Fulbright Distinguished Chair at Marie Curie University in Poland. She is Professor of English at Nassau Community College.
